My Peugeot 406 has developed a fault with the air con. When switched on the air con runs cold but after about 30 seconds the 'stop' message on the control panel flashes and bleeps and the message on the display is 'engine overheating'. Engine temperature remains normal. My local garage checked out the diagnostics and nothing was shown or stored. Air con pump and other bits all checked out OK. Their advice was to run it anyway and ignore the message. I am not comfortable doing this. Any ideas as to what is causing this and how to recify it.
I also have a fault with the hand brake in warm weather which has been going on since last year. When the hand brake is pulled up the display flashes 'brake fluid level low' even 'tho I know it is fine.
Are these electrical anomolies just something I have to live with given the age of the car and should I expect the vehicle to develop more. Other than that the car is fine. Any advice and ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks.
