Renault Clio III - New for old replacement car insurance - paulas99

Hi All

I have written off my car a couple of months ago.

I have been offered £11,500 for the vehicle.

The vehicle cost £16,050 from new.

I have also been offered a "new for old" replacement.

Does anyone know what I would get as a replacement vehicle.

(i.e. Would I get a new car to the same spec I purchased, or a new car just to the value of £11,500?)

A new car to my spec is now nearly £18,000.

How does it work?

Tia

As a rule, "new for old" means just that; they give you a new Renault Clio 111, the same spec as previous (or closest to it, if that spec is no longer available).

My insurance will give me a new car, if mine is written off before it is 12 months old. Ie a new, similarly specced car to that which I drove away from the showroom.

It seems strange that I get £11,000 in cash but £18,000 in a replacement car.....

It's not going to cost the insurer £18k though is it.
