VW Polo Estate - VW Polo Estate 1.4 W reg Not Starting (Sometimes) - msr

Hello,

I'm not brilliant with car repairs etc, but I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice...

VW
Polo Estate, 2000 (W reg) 1.4 16V Petrol
74500 miles
EPC warning light on
Brand new battery
Serviced a few months ago

Every now and again (but far too frequently!) my car has trouble starting. I was able to capture it on video which I have uploaded to youtube:

As you can see/hear it seems like the car is trying to start but something is stopping it - any suggestions??? Sometimes I can just about get it to catch by repeatedly stamping on and off the accelerator pedal and it'll just slowly rumble to life.

If anyone can offer me any advice that would be very much appreciated.

You really need to get a proper diagnostic check to get a more accurate picture of what is or isn't working correctly. However, using crystal ball diag system I would say you have a problem with the engine coolant temp sensor or the flywheel/engine speed rpm sensor.hth

Intermittent fault like that suggests flywheel position sensor. Internal wires are fragile and start either breaking or insulation starts failing.

But as doc says, you need a proper diagnostics check..
