Hi
have a Focus 1.8, 2003 model. Engine warning light has been on for 2-3 weeks now. Garage has diagnosed it as misfire cylinder 1. Replaced coil pack, spark plugs and plug leads, problem is still there. Went to a Ford dealer who carried out a compression test and it appears cylinder 1 is low on pressure (150 compared to 225 average pressure on the other three). Ford suggests they take out the cylinder head to check for around £500. Then they need to charge more for fixing it.
What could be the possible cause here? Someone mentioned the valve gaps may be off? Could it be burnt valves and any clue how much this would cost? Car is worth around £2000, so not sure whether I should sc*** it or try and fix it...
Thanks!
