Mazda 323 (1998 - 2003) - Air conditioning not working - troy001

Bought the car last August, 10 years old and 32,000 miles.

One of my queries when I bought it was that the air con seemed a bit weak and had it regassed before buying - worked fine.

Went to start using the AC again in April and got no response from it - put this down to not using it over the winter after reading a post on here and the manual (learn from experience...) and booked it in with a trusted garage to be fixed.

They gave the AC system a check, found no issues, regassed it and it worked perfectly again. Just a week later it has stopped working again - easy to tell when it works as you can hear the system click and whirr into life when switched on. Now not getting that sound, and not particularly cold air.

Sadly the trusted garage is at the other end of the country (booked to coincide with holiday time) and I don't expect to be there again any time too soon. Can anyone suggest or advise what may have caused it to fail again so soon, and if there's anything I can do?

Many thanks in advance.

At a guess,i would think you have a leak in the system and have lost the refridgerant gas.Take it to an a/con specialist to get a thorough leak test .More than likely to be a leak in the condensor(a/c rad)or on one of the aluminium pipes near the front of the car.hth
