The fuse keeps blowing on my fuel pump, what should be replaced?

Probably the fuel pump unfortunatly - are you replacing it with the correct fuse? You could try a slightly larger one but if that goes - fuel pump.

Thanks, several fuses have blown, but garage could not find a problem with the pump, so will take it back for another look. Thanks for your help.

What's the engine size? Is it DOHC (16v) or not?

Must have a loose connection if the pump's ok.

I doubt diesels have one of those devices supposed to cut off the fuel when the car goes upside down, whatever they're called. They go bad.

Check the relay.

If you've got a multimeter then substitute this for the fuse and measure how much current the fuel pump is drawing.

multimeter set on amp's two probes set either side of where the fuse should be,regards TB

Thanks for all the suggestions.

The RAC guy measured the current drawn by the fuel pump, but this was only 6 Amps which is well within the 15 Amp fuse rating. The problem only seems to show itself after the engine warms up.

The car is still under warranty so I took it back to garage again after the third fuse had blown.

They have now replaced the relay so I am hoping this will do the trick!

I will report back if this sorts out the problem, but not holding my breath yet!

Which fuse blows?Can you identify what number it is on the fuse map?Unlikely to be the relay.There is probably more than one consumer on this circuit.hth

The fuse blown was fuse 24, which the handbook says only relates to the fuel pump, which I suppose is triggered by the relay. Everything is still fine at the moment, but as I said I will post an update if this does not cure the problem.
