hi everyone, not posted here before and know almost nothing about cars so please excuse my ignorance.

I've just been towed home by the AA. There diagnostics machine came up with FAULT CODE 11 - crankshaft position sensor.

I've no idea what that is myself but the AA guy said its built into the distributor (and that I will need to replace the whole thing) whilst a DIY mechanic friend thought it was elsewhere on the engine.

I'm about to fork out for a new distributor and just really wanted confirmation that thats the right way to go.

Hi,the crankshaft sensor will be located in the engine block, NOT the distrubutor housing.
