Citroen C5 II 2.0 Hdi - Front tyre wear - robert

Hi,

What sort of wear should I expect to get from my front tyres?

Car has done 12,500 miles and the tyres seem more worn than I was expecting.

They are Michelin 225 55 17's

Mileage is mainly motorway.

From talking to various owners, it seems to me that modern 2 litre-ish diesels with their high torque output, tend to wear front tyres quite quickly. My wife's previous Zafira, shod from new with Michelin Energy 15" rubber, made 40,000 miles on the front tyres. Then, the same type replacements did another 40,000! The new Zafira has worn out (nice and even) it's Continental eco things, in 15,000 miles, these are 16". It now has a pair of Goodyear NCT on the front, so we will see how they do. Not expecting too much to be honest!

I think it depends largely on how you drive, if you corner hard, accelerate fast and brake hard they will only last half the time they would driven gently. My gently driven Citroen XM will do 30k on front tyres and the rears last almost forever.
