Do I have to fit the exact same tyres on BMW?

The tyre on my BMW needs changing. I contacted a BMW dealer regarding my tyre change, I was told that I will have to put the same brand of tyres on my BMW. The tyre on my BMW is a Bridgestone 225/50R18W99.

Can I put a similar size of tyre, say Yokohama?

Strictly speaking there is no reason why you cannot fit a different brand of tyre to your vehicle, as long as it meets the required specifications in terms of size and performance and is comparable to the remaining tyres. However, it would be worth checking if the terms of your warranty require that your tyres are to the exact specifications as outlined by the manufacturer.
