Peugeot 309 GLD 1.9 diesel (1989) - asking price - tizadu

i have someone coming to look at my car tomorrow. it's done 80,000 miles. it's got 6 months Mot left, 1 month tax, a possible blown head gasket. i haven't driven it since November, but it was a good car up until then.

the lock mechanism on the two front doors has stuck so they can't be opened (will try & fix that tonight with some wD40).

the potential buyer wanted to know if the car would make it a distance of about 20 miles. Said i didn't know - i think it might if stop frequently to top up water & possibly oil.

Don't know what i should ask for it. is it too much to expect £120 (considering it was a good, reliable car to drive, even on that mileage)?

can't find any similar models online to get an idea of price, so any ideas welcome.

thanks

i think its a question of what someone will pay for it, have you looked on ebay? if it was in good working order it should be worth a hundred or two but the cost of fitting a head gasket is going to be far more than the car is worth, your only chance off getting a decent price is if someone particularly wants this model.

if you put it on ebay it will make what its worth.

the injector pump alone could be worth a fair bit.

i agree with Peter.N. and his ebay suggestion.

OK - thanks a lot for that. Much appreciated.

Didn't manage to unstick the lock mechanism with wd40 - I'm guessing the whole mechanism has frozen solid & would need a mechanic at this stage?

I can't even open the front doors to get the panel off!

Your car is worth minus quite a bit. Nothing seems to work, I would set fire to it.

My son had a 309, quite a good car many years ago.

sold it a few weeks back for £120 - had huge amount of interest with no haggling - mainly from mechanics.

glad didn't have to sc*** it (going rate £100)

thanks again for advice
