Toyota Land cruiser lc - Vibration in cold weather when stopped and in 'D' - NARU

In the cbc breakdown for the landcruiser it says:

"May 06 Landcruiser LC5 D-4D auto had all 4 injectors replaced in March 2008 to resolve a vibration / judder through the car when held stationary in drive in cold weather. This problem has re-occurred and Toyota are not sure what it is and want the care for several days to test. "

I've been having this same vibration.

Has anyone else had it, and what was the cause?

THanks

Marlot i assume you have the 3.0d4d engined LC, which is the same engine as fitted to my Hilux.

There are many ongoing threads both here and in Australia about the so called death rattle, where hundreds of Denzo (think those MB's all waiting for new injectors) injectors have been removed and replaced and some cars just reprogrammed.

There's some further developments on the Landcruiser forum in particular where there seems to be problems with either blow by past the injector sealing washers and/or excess fuelling causing oil to be diluted and some cars suffering carbon gung buliding up in the oil strainer caising oil starvation and seizure.

As i read these too often there seems to be a common thread of tuning boxes being used and oil servicing not too regular either, but by no means in all cases.

I can point you in the direction of these threads if you want though you'll probably find them easily enough.

Nowhere have i heard until your posting and reading HJ's summary about any vibrations in the transmission being linked to injector problems.

I'm familiar with the injector issue, which seems to be caused by breakdown of the copper seals at the base of the injectors - it seems advisable to swap them to the later aluminium seals (parts cheap, but a fair bit of labour).

The vibration at idle is a different issue I think. It only happens in cold weather, when the car is coming up to temperature. I've had a suggestion that it might be a failing engine mount but keen to find anyone who's had the same problem, but found a fix.

Sorry, only just read this, we had the same issue, loads of vibration, even in neutral, warm or cold.

I thought the box was on it's way out, went in under warranty for it, they changed the engine mounts, it was like a new car!
