Any advice is appreciated.
I own a 2001 Santa-Fe 2l petrol in v good condition. I have been trying to sell or swap for a few months because of the high fuel costs.
I now have the chance to swap with a 2002 Citroen Picasso 1.6l petrol, its also in v good condition. I will also recieve ?500 in cash.
Generally do users think this is a good deal for me ?
Will I make decent savings in the fuel costs ?
Thankyou for taking the time to read :)

How many miles/ how much fuel do you use per year ?
Do you need a mini-MPV ?
I personally wouldn't want a Picasso if I was on fire and it was full of water....

Do you know this for sure? If not, it might be a case of better the devil you know.

You won't make a load of savings in fuel (unless you're doing loads of miles and then you'd be asking diesel type questions) and you'll be exposing yourself to an 8 year old Citroen with all the inherent risks. I had a Picasso diesel from new, good car but wouldn't buy the one you're considering.

Thanks all, does not sound too good, has no one anything good to say ??
we drive about 15,000miles / year

I wouldn't swap. 500 euros cash-back and a few extra mpg will soon be eroded if you start racking-up repair bills on an ageing Citroen with an unknown history. The financial reward is not worth the risk!

Only time this would be worth it IMO is if the Citroen was a diesel.
As it's a petrol, your savings would be marginal.
Let's say the Hyundai manages about 32mpg and the Citroen about 37 (official stats). In 15,000 miles you'd save the grand total of about £300 a year. Hardly seems worth it to me when one big bill and your savings are wiped out.

Unless you're banking on divine intervention saintstephen, this could turn out to be a devilish deal. Keepeth thine own counsel (& Santa Fe).

I've been driving a Picasso a bit this week, one of our club cars which needed some minor attention and a good valet.
Horrible thing...glad to get it back in it's bay. The ' A ' post ( actually two of them, splitting round a quarterlight ) are obstructive to vision, I had to lean well forward to see round a roundabout and miss kerbing it on the island. My clutch foot kept coming stuck under some obstruction under the dash making slow reverse parking difficult. I thought the gearchange was awful and the speedo was tucked away in the dark in the middle of the dash making it hard to see.
This was a 2007 model
Keep the Santa Fe !

'Nice to ride in, not nice to drive,' is my verdict based on limited experience.
