hi i have fault code - p0230 showing
cleared code and can some times drive for about 1/2 a mile then when you lift off the throttle it will bring the engine light on then garenteed within 10 seckonds the engine will cut regardless of rpm
if clear the code will idle ok for anything upto 5min but if you turn key off befor it faults and cuts out , then it will run on for a second and the p0230 code will be back
i have had (all seconhand)
3 in tank pumps
2 double relay/ fuel relay
2 high pressure pumps
2 fuel regulators (bolt to rear of high pressure pump)
2 sets of injectors
2 cam sensors
including orignals
have also checked various wires plugs earths fuses / feeds, have checked fuel return system and all ok
im still leaning towards the fuel reg and controling common rail pressure sensor ??
am intending on draining the fuel from tank as dont know where it was brought from though it is white, and another fuel filter then will report back
any ideas very apricated

Hi mate im having exactly the same problem with my 406 hdi w reg its the 110bhp model though. The problem first started a few weeks ago, the engine was running on after turning the key off for a good few seconds. But now a couple of days ago it has begun to develop another problem, its cutting out after running for a couple of minutes and wont start unless i turn the ignition on a few times, and then it fires straight up but has a bad misfire almost as if its running on 2 cylinders or even 1 cylinder lol.
My guess would be the low pressure pump faulty but it was just brand new at the start of last year as i had the same problem but was never starting when warm. The problem was the fuel regulator on the injection pump
Are you any further forward with your diagnosis??? Im going to go nuts if i dont the problem fixed soon lol..........

hi , ive just drained the tank wiped clean inside (sender unit removed stripped and cleaned filter on bottom of it)
flushed fuel feed/return pipes , removed n cleaned fuel filter housing,
fitted new fuel filter , put whole redex in tank and put 15lts of shell diesel extra in,
then cleared fault codes and she idled for a hour ran up to temp withno fault but occasional hunting poss losing pressure, ran down road and got 2 miles then fault was back :(
so conclusion i think low pressure pump is weak though ive had 3 n not got rid of fault they wer from a breakers !!!
so ill grab some fuel pipes off a scrapper and put the exturnal pump off my 2.0ltr redtop in line with the std pump just as a pick up pump and test again b4 i buy a new tank pump as dont want more expense without cure lol
