Maybe £1300 if the SH is good. Very good cars in their day.

Cracking little car, love them and yes I would have one

If its a GT4, in immaculate nick with history, about 2.5 k

Place your bid from that point downwards. Make sure its not a grey import.
Offer a grand and see what they say.

I found myself looking longingly at a GT-Four of this year which was parked up on a grass verge locally with "for sale" signs in the window. The guy wanted £2k for it.

Alas this particular example was a "ten yard" car. Looked fantastic from ten yards, but closer than that the (badly) resprayed front wings and evidence of a rear end impact became obvious.

Fabulous looking car though. My cousin drives an early 90's 2.0 GT which has done 240,000 miles. All it's needed drivetrain wise is a clutch. Still flies.

Drove one when it was new on a F plate (88-89) nice car flattering to drive - quick but not very discrete in fire engine red.....GT4. At the age you mention, condition and history would be everything - 500 quid to 2.5k depending on those elements.

I thought about one of these before buying my current car. I still think they are excellent, I looked at a couple but they weren't in very good condition.

Long lasting, good looking, apparently a good long distance car, and without the expense of the admittedly brilliant GT4.

Top car, as said condition is the thing.

It's finding one thats not been owned by the usual suspects thats going to be difficult.

Thanks for the replies guys, yeah the thing is the age really!!..i was sort of thinking it's a little bit old and was contemplating putting a private number plate on there, i don't know if thats the snob coming out in me or what...lol i mean i own an old car at the moment but not that old and just sort of envisaged a newer motor when i did eventually change cars!!..the car in question is actually my brothers car and he's looking for 15 hundred at the moment, which i think is a little overpriced, i'd consider it if he was asking a grand maybe!!

But it's a lovely looking car and a good example of it's type and fun to drive, it's just the L reg that puts me off!!

Don't be put off by the age or the reg plate SM, if the car is in good mechanical condition with a rust free body you'll be getting a future appreciating classic at it's lowest ever price...but be realistic as to it's originality and it's real condition...
just because its shiny still goes well and sounds nice doesn't mean there's not horror stories in it's past,, and along that vein it doesn't want decking out in bling (barried) which happens to too many good cars...not suggesting you'd do that but many have already been so afflicted with bodykits etc and are ruined.

If it has been aftermarket bodykitted out it's worth virtually nothing imo.

Look after it baby it rustproof it and enjoy it, and smugly carry on driving this totally reliable relatively simple and fairly unusual car around whilst owners of sporty coupe's of later years bristling with computers and sensors giving up daily look on enviously.
