03 1.8 Calcium Batteries - TGibbo
Have just purchased a new battery for my Focus. 6 years old - interesting to read Ford batteries don't seem to last long! Battery is calcium but not sure if this is silver calcium as there may, it seems, be different types. Is this likely to cause problems. Handbook says original was silver calcium. Replacement is however greater capacity.

03 1.8 Calcium Batteries - mikej
I used a Halfords calcium battery on my 1999 1.8 without any problems once the original died. The original battery had lasted around 8 years (80k+ miles IIRC) - pretty good IMO !

Not sure whether difference between calcium and calcium silver is important - I got the impression that the important thing was not to use a standard lead battery, due to the high voltages produce by Ford's smart charging system.
