And today, seen in the flesh at last as HJ hosted the Q&A at the motor show. Well done John, I was tempted to throw a couple of questions in but they were not in the same league as the type you were already fielding! "I am about to retire, what car should I buy". "My xxx has been giving trouble, what shall I do?". Good grief, some people really do need spoonfeeding! I loved your answer to one guy who didn't know which cars to look at and asked where to go! "You've come to the right place" HJ smirks!
I did want to ask you, in the absence of BMW's presence at the show why it was all their cars seem to have the front fog lights hard wired these days, but it would have gone over the heads of most of the folk you had to entertain today.
I couldn't believe people just fizzled out of questions, you were about the only true source of motoring gen at the whole show as very few manufacturers seemed to have anyone of authority on their stands in lieu of the scantily clad agency girls wielding palm computers scouring addresses to send brochures to. Why not have brochures at a b***** trade show?
As it all wrapped up, I wanted to shake your hand, but a long queue of people who were previously too shy to speak lined up to rib you ("here, it's that bloke out of the Daily Mail" one woman whispered). My girlfriend loved your casual jeans look and with trademark hat, she turned to me and said "he looks just like a cowboy".
Well done HJ, I hope you get a better heckler on Sunday.
