hi there

ui have recently bought a 306 with a nakerd engine

i have went and bought a replacement engine and fittef it no problem

i now hav the car sitting causing me a headache

it does not turn over from the key to start, i have a remote key with the central locking buttons on it that do not work, (possibly a battery in key?.)

i am not shure if the pumps are coded or imoiliser makes a dif ?

any help would be much apreciated thanks

HI is there a small button on the steering coloum near the ignition key if so lock and unlock the car with the key then press the button on steering coloum should then start this isnt the hdi motor is it ? if it is the pump could be coded but motor should turn over hope this helps you also need to press this button if you disconect the battery at any time steve

Does it have a keypad? If not you have no code problem providing the car the engine came out of didn't have a keypad, but you would probably know that because it would have a multi connector to the pump instead of one wire. If the starter is not turning sounds more like an electrical fault or a duff starter.

Try connecting a wire from the + terminal of the battery to the small terminal on the starter, if it turns you have a fault in the ignition circuit, if not the starter is faulty.

thanks for the replys. il hav to double check with the button as all the plastics were off the colum when i pikd the car up, the starter is fine as i have already bridged the wires to get it to turn over ?
there is no keypad either

If neither car has a keypad you are rid of the worst nightmare, it can only be a faulty ignition switch or a glitch in the wiring I would think.

no key pad almost certain its just the reset button near ignition key but you must lock and unlock doors before pressing button cant rember if ignition should be on or off when pressing try both

i have the key with the central locking buttons on it but that does not work, poss a flat battery ion key ? will this matter ?

remote locking not working shouldn't be a problem ,what happens to the dashboard warning lights when you turn the key to start it? ie do they all dim ,stay the same or just one dim? could be a duff or jammed starter motor steve
