Caddy 1.9 SDI 2001, stopped at lights engine cut out, would not start, would only fire for a few seconds, blue smoke unburnt diesel, turned ignition on lights came on ! now glow plug light flashs, do you think diagnostic check, seems like the code s not being read on the key ! ? stumped

update is van, turn ignition on, headlights come on dim, engine will only fire for about 2- 3 seconds, unburnt diesel out the back, any clues ! has gone to a independant vw garage theve spent an hour on it,but no answers as yet,help
