This vehicle is, as you can see, just over six years old and has recently passed 50K.
It has always started at first turn of the key. Today it was reluctant to do so even though the engine was hot.
Is there a simple way in which *I* can tell whether the battery is near-flat or is coming to the end of it's life?
I am not mechanically minded.

Some of these Honda batteries have a "magic eye" on the top which gives an indication of charge state, otherwise take it to a specialist to get battery and charge rate checked. At 6 years old I would think it is past its prime and due for a change.Get a replacement from Honda, their pricing on batteries is surprisingly competetive.hth

Thanks for that info Doc. I was not aware until now of that 'magic eye' on Honda batteries.

'magic eye' Also found on Gm batteries a little green indicator bright ok then gets dimmer as it gets weaker measures the electrolite.
As said 6 years is good mine was changed at 1yr faulty from new,
Maintennance free most are but id prefer to get into it so can top up if required like if overcharges.

Years ago batteries seemed to gradually fade away over a long period but now it seems to be quite common for them to be fine one day and then dead the next.
