i have been told that i need a new compressor for the air con on my 1997 2.0L any body had this done that knows the cost.
|
Assuming the front seal has gone, the body seal, or the valve inside, then about £430 for a new genuine Delphi compressor, labour and gassing.
|
If i do not get my air con done in till next year is it likely
to cause more problems or will it be ok without gas in it for a few months.
any help thanks

if you don't run it for a year it is likely the other seals will dry out and leak when it is replaced. Hence more repairs and cost.
Try an aircon specialist: they may be cheaper.

The main seal to dry out is the compressor shaft seal. If your compressors knackered anyway it won't make any difference. Just do us specialists (and yourself) a favour, and don't leave it till the first warm week of weather when half the country suddenly decides they need their a/c fixing.

Hello Dave N.
In your post you say that you are a specialist on air-con. Could I ask your advice on an air-con problem on a P reg 2.5 Clibra ? The aircon seems to be working too well. You may have seen the problem before and be able to tell us the reason for it.
Thank you, petel@clara.co.uk

Pete,
Could you not just adjust the hot/cold temp knob to compensate? If too cold, turn up the heater a bit.

Wealthy Relative has the new S-Type Jaguar, and complains that she can't get the air to the footwells cold enough. Dash vents are fine. I wonder if this is a design feature.
