hi ive just purchased a 94 astravan 1.7td the problem i have is at low speed the engine stutters as though its running out of fuel but at speeds over 40 the engine runs fine could you tell me what could be causing this thanks chazz

The first thing I would do is to drop the fuel filter down out of its housing and check the rubber ring seals. Keep the filter upright, so you don't loose any fuel out of it. There will be a large seal running round the periphery of the filter canister, if, however, there is also a small inner seal fitted, remove it! Refit the filter, and keep the engine revving a bit when you restart to bleed the air through.
The second thing I would check is the security of the wiring to the fuel pump stop solenoid.
