97 3.3 heater not working - carolinep
Hi

can anyone help please, my heater does not seem to be working on my grand voyager also air con did not work during the summer, is this something that we could fix ourselves.

How long does it take for the temperature gauge to register, and what reading is it indicating when the engine is warm?

Hi Dave
I will have to check that out, its not something that i've noticed, sorry to sound dim but i'm assuming you mean the temperature dial on the dash,
could it have a bearing on it.

Yep, that's the one.
could it have a bearing on it.


If the engine isn't getting hot, then neither will the heater.

checked the temperature this morning, engine is warming up after a couple of minutes and dial on dash stays on halfway for the journey

Try a reset of the heater doors press and hold the top and bottom buttons on the left side of the panel you should see all the lights flash and hear all the flaps moving. if you hear clicking then you possibly has a broken gear on the flaps.

Hi Merlin

I will give that a try, is this panel underneath the steering wheel, excuse my ignorance but it is a learning curve sorting this out.

merlin ignore last post, think i have just figured out what you meant,
I have started the car set heater on cold, fan on high and held down at the same time the 2 buttons ( rear wiper and another ).
no lights came on!! can you advise, please

you have to hold the for about 5 seconds it should work.

try the 2 bottom corners then. I can normally just do when it's in front of me. lol I'll check tomorrow. top left is to exit after it's finished.

cheers for that merlin i'm gonna go give it another try, however my rear wash wipe doesn't work either and i think thats one of the buttons so i don't hold out much hope!!

lol o dear, did check today and it is top and bottom on the left for the blend/mode door calibration, bottom left and right for the cool down test (but need air con to work to pass that).

hi just been readin ur advice on how to get heatin workin as i have same problem, ive done wot uve said to do, after i press and hold the middle button stays flashing and still have no heat can u tell me wot this means please many thanks nicky

I am having the same problem with my 2000 Voyager. I had no idea you could reset by pressing in those buttons. I did it, held it for 5 secs, and all the lighst flashed. I heard the panels open and closk (no clicking) but we still have no heat. Everything else works: new thermostat, blows air (cold), not the heater core, has enough fluid and dont smell it and windows dont fog up, dash gauge heats up to half way in just 2-3 minutes. This is very frustrating! Its cold outside, and me and my little boy freeze everywhere we go. What else could it be?
