Ive not been using my car much since I got to university other than occasionally making a 1 mile trip into town. Bit of a silly question I know but am I going to do any real damage if it does get a proper run every 2 or 3 weeks?

Moisture is the biggest issue. The exhaust will not clear out the moisture properly, so will probably rot from the inside more quickly. Also the inside of the car will not have so many changes of air to keep it properly dry and pleasant smelling.

Dave,
Are you in Aber? Take it for a spin up to Llangurig or Yyns Llas. The latter has a very nice beach to drive on and check that the handbrake still works..... Also if your driving up and down Penglais then properly warming up the oil occasionally is probably a good thing to do.

I am in aber yeah. Thanks for the advice; one of my housemates got me to go to Borth but maybe itd be good to go further!

A warning from my younger and more reckless days!
Me and my mate took his recently rebuilt Mini all the way from from Manc to the beach you mention. We tore up and down, sideways, backwards and allsorts having great fun. We were lucky that the Rozzers (no doubt despatched by concerned locals) met us just as we were leaving rather than 1 minute earlier!
Take care!

biggest problem is getting too near the water. Happened to many a friend and you are somewhat reliant on a friendly farmer pulling you out before the tide comes in (rapidly). Breakdown and emergency services do not want to know!
It's also possible to drive from there back to Borth, down in a Subaru Legacy 4x4. Great pictures!

Thank you! The police here are somewhat strict. Had to produce docs today for a failed brake light. Well, I'll keep car gymnastics to a minimum on Ynys Llas (whatever its called,) and I know what you mean about soft sand.

Tim how the hell did you know Dave was from Aberystwyth on the information given. I always found that once you had reached Waunfawr the engine was good and hot but cars were different then (early 1980's)

Earlier thread. As for engine temp, have a mk2 Golf with trip computer which gives oil temp. Never used to rise above 80c on those trips....normal oil temp 90c when not under load.
Tim
p.s. Its the skateboarders whick overtook me going down the hill which freaked me out!
