Does anyone know how to increase the idling speed on this model?
The reason is it has always idled on 500RPM, this was low but it never cut out.
I have just left it standing for 2 months without driving ( the battery was also flat), and the now it struggles to stay running when idling once the car has warmed up, it has also cut out several times.
What should i do?
It has done 107000miles.
Thanks in advance.
John.

It either has an idle control valve of an idle stepper motor that is not working. Regards Peter

hi probally caused by base idle reset as it will have returned to factory setting so ecu will not becalculting wear/ dirt in the throttle housing (cleaning could help but dont touch the adjustment screws as this will damage the throttle body as its a one time set at the factory)
hope tis helps

Idle control valves are notorious on this model. I used to have a webpage about it. I think they were called IACs. try googling IAC mazda 626.
