This has me baffled!
When I bought the car it had an after market sony CD player with a facia plate fitted!
This would cut out when played quite loud and would not come back on for about 5 mins (by cut out I mean go completely dead display and all)
I put this down to a faulty head unit and removed the CD player and fitted the original peugeot cd player in it's place. Now if i do the same with this then it goes off and last time was off for near 7 hours before coming back on with the ignition off and the car parked up????? It was like something out of Christine lol.
Has anybody got any ideas why this happens? If i keep the volume down it is never any trouble but it's as though a semi conductor is over heating in the amp or something but 2 units is a bit more than coincidence
Thanks

I would think that its something to do with the current consumption which increases sharply with an increase of volume, something must be tripping out. Connect a meter across the 12v input and see if it dissapears when the fault ocurs.
