01 1.8 Cigar lighter won't operate accessories - Happy Chap

Cigar lighter works fine, but i cant use any thing eles. i.e sat nav or phone charger. Can someone please help me. will need Sat nav within the next 2 weeks. Thanks in advance

Cigar lighter sockets are not really suitable for accessories.You need to get a proper power socket fitted which does not have the "claws" inside that grip the lighter element.hth

Thanks for your reply, never had this problem on any other vehicle i've owned vw audi volvo.
Do I have to get this from a main dealer? any idea how much it would cost? Thanks again.

I would think a main dealer could supply one of these.I have a power socket (original factory fit)in the rear load space of my 01 mondeo estate.hth
