I am interested in a private sale of an 06 grande punto . Low miles and a round the 4k Mark. Only thing is that a an AA data check reveals that is was exported to the UK when it was only 11 months old. It was then re registerd to UK plates. Thing it the AA check cannot supply any info of its history in N Ireland, only its history here. AAre there any car data checks tha will give me its history in N Ireland. It might be a genuine reason for the transfer but I would prefer to check.

Reaaly i am sure ther could be a genuine reason after all the car has been in this country for 2 years,. Surely any problems would or could have been reported. If it had 4/5 owners I wouldn't touch it but it has had two previous owners / total of three with the last owner only having in his name for 3 month and is seeling because his wife doesn't like the car, whicjh is plausable. No outstanding finace reported.

Puntos are dodgy enough anyway never mind the history or lack of it!
Actually 4,000 miles in 3 years isn't as attractive as it sounds. The car could have been driven mainly to the shops down the road and never got properly warmed up: it could give you more trouble than something that has done 10,000 miles a year.
N Ireland is in the UK - do you mean it's been abroad, then NI, then England?
You might do better to try to find a Yaris or a Jazz of similar vintage.

The problem with Puntos and is that some come out the factory as good as any Toyota but some seem to come out the factory worse than Fiesta with 100k on it.
The main thing which put me off buying a Punto is the constant tranmission problems and the infamous EPS module failure. However if I saw a good one with good FSH etc I would not let it put me off.

When I say abroad I mean effectively it is abraod because DVLANI does not share thier data with DVLA in the Uk. It was exorted from N Irelan to the UK . It's history cannoy bre verified because It was originally sold in N Ireland then exported to the UK . I am trying to find its history in N Ireland.

Is it worth bothering with it? One lesson I have learnt about buying cars is the slightest doubt just walk away. The car may well be fine but just let another person take that risk.

There are hundreds of thousands of cars for sale.
If an owner cannot be bothered to get his story straight.. he only will sell it to a credulous fool or a gambler.
The sane buy something either with a proper history.. or cheap to allow for it.
Paying a high price for a possibly dodgy car is the province of the unwary, the naive and those with more money than sense.. in my view...

Can't speak for previous models but my current model Grande Punto has done 35,000 miles now and I'm as happy with it as I was with previous Ford and VW group products.
BUT... any history problems with any car and you should walk away.

ive said before but will reiterate
the easiest way to loose a bad history is to import/export a car from NI
loose=lose
