How can I check the history of a car that's been on a private plate?
I'm looking to buy a car from a dealer which has been on a private plate. When I do an online vehicle check the old plate matches the car I am looking at - model and year, but on the same checker the new plate has no information. Although I have been able to get an insurance quote - I had to do that manually. I've also been told the service history and owners manual have been ordered from the dealer and will be available when I collect the car. So I am a little bit nervous. What documentation should I check in in order?

All the data for the car will be against the cherished registration that has been taken off it, including the MoT mileage record. You definitely want to see the service history (against the cherished reg). Paid invoices are far more reliable than stamps in a service book that are easily faked.
