I have a slight but steady diesel leak coming from the solenoid on the pump.it appears to be weeping from the top of the solenoid, the crimped part. How difficult is this to repair and is there any problems i should be aware off when doing so?

Mine leaked and I tried to repair it with epoxy. It worked good enough until I could find a new one but it wasn't perfect. I seem to remember the peugeot one was about £60 so I took it to a diesel shop and asked for one like it. £15 I think. You might be lucky at a scrap yard and get one for a tenner.

There were some cheap ones on ebay a while back, worth looking.

Mine seaped on a 93 1.4D 106 for a while without me noticing, then one day diesel started flowing !! out of the car, called RAC, he tried to re-crimp the top without luck. The RAC man drove to my local motor spares shop, bought one and fitted it, cost me £22 for the part and RAC man fitted it. I watched him work and it was simple to remove and replace.

My Alternator died yesterday!!!
Maybe the seapage had killed it.
Very strange, solenoid changed about 3 months ago, all works fine, read this thread mentions seaping can kill alternator. Post a reply on Tuesday night and my alternator dies Wednesday morning, very spooky.
Not getting it fixed, as car going for scrappage in a few weeks time, so will put battery on charger each night to keep it going.
