Do any backroomers know what's happening ESP wise?

We've just bought an i20 yesterday - I'm going to post up an initial review shortly. But one thing we weren't particularly happy about was ESP. All the reviews say it would be standard from Feb 09, but I spoke to several dealers who told me that no i20 in UK stock is fitted with ESP and that, if I wanted it, I would have to wait 3 - 4 months for a factory order.

We've bought under the scrappage deal and didn't want to wait, so we've gone without ESP. I think it will become standard at some point but, at the moment, I suspect they can easily sell every i20 imported because of the scrappage scheme, so it might be a while!

Is the lack of ESP really a major problem for these buyers?

Sure it would be nice to have it, but is anyone going to drive fast enough to provoke its usage? ABS is standard on most i20's anyway.

It only takes one slippery roundabout to catch anyone out.

I saw (and heard) a driver of a newish Meriva manouvering in a car park today. Two damaged panels, front bumper trim hanging off, trying to engage gear without using the clutch. Dont judge others skill by your own.
