hi i just want a bit of advice i want to buy a car as a taxi and was thinking of a honda based on that they are supposed to be reliable i would prefer the diesal based on fuel consumption but i know they have problems injectors turbo's etc i would be doing about 40,000 miles a year thats why iam considering the petrol as i know they have no problems what so ever and the money i would save in fuel consumption getting the diesal could backfire if say the turbo went then the money i would have saved is now being spent and more on fixing it so can someone help me please

I can't comment on the Honda engines sorry but in my area taxi drivers seem to be buying petrols after having their fingers burned with expensive diesel pump failiures. You can put a whole second hand engine in a petrol Mondeo for less than the cost of a diesel pump.

Why dont you see any Taxi Hondas ? I have just changed my Ford Mondeo 2.0 tdci taxi
220,000 miles in 30 months , no problems , turbos love oil changes every 6000 miles.
Now have a VW. Must say servicing can be expensive if you have injector/turbo/egr problems etc but would not run a petrol for high mileage dont seem so robust and you would stuggle to make a living on the consumption .

we are at this moment looking to replace our aging taxi a citroen piccasso(381000) but after hearing all the problems with the later model piccasso i doubt we will be going for 1 of those again so i would also be interested to hear how these hondas are coping with extremes of taxi work , 1 thing i heard off with these hondas is that they live on fully sinthetic oil and that they only need an oil change every 30,000 miles wether that is true i dont know

iam swayed now between a honda accord ctdi but iam more tempted by the toyota avensis d4d based on the fact they dont suffer any turbo or injector problems but i prefer the honda based on looks and so on thats why i would like to know if these honda diesals are reliable enough for taxi use i dont really want to fix a turbo or injectors so at the min its the toyota that wins but if anyone can tell me otherwise that the honda is as reliable as it should be i might think twice
