03 Broken cam belt - xrayd3nx
Hi, just reading your post, bascially i brought a 03 fiesta from northampton auction about 4 weeks ago, it has done 70,000 miles and yesterday, the cam belt broke and i had to be towed by the AA to a garage. Im just wondering would this fiesta be under warranty or not.

These belts are supposed to last 100k are they not? or 6 years please correct me if im wrong.

You have no warranty has the car any service history from a local garage or one you can ring up to see if the belt had been changed?

I think you are totally on your own on this, buying from an auction always has a downside, but this could have happened on a private sale and, again ,there would be no comeback.

Its one of the joys of buying at auction at trade prices against trade buyers who have to do the cambelt prior to selling if they think its going to be a warranty issue in the forseable future
why didnt you have the belt done soon after purchase if you werent sure if it had ever been done?
we in the trade have a get out clause for this kind of thing if we block a dud, its called caveat umpar, you im afraid are the caveat and youve been umpt

sorry
