As a high mileage driver I feel I have done well in modern Britain, to avoid speeding tickets in the past. I can't claim to drive everywhere within the limts but I don't speed excessively. In Nov. I got caught at 23.00 on a Sunday night doing 47 on a 40 mph semi rural dual carriageway, and was subsequently offered a speed awareness course which I did in March. At 4.5 hrs. this was padded out but there were some useful reminders.
Then in Feb. I got photographed on a near deserted motorway in a different county at 80 mph. I expected to get points and a fine this time, but I have just received (the peprwork had to go via the car leaser and my employer) another invitation to a speed seminar !
Following the March course, I still have not had the 'clearance' letter for the first offence advising that the penalty is withdrawn, as stated would happen, and maybe also therefore the details have not been sent to DVLA, who I understand hold a database of all these courses and attendees (?).
I guess I should be honest and advise the new prosecuting force of the last course, but of course I am tempted not to do this !
Does anybody have any advice on this please ? I guess my concern is that if I pay for the second course, that later on the error will be spotted and I will get a fine and points as well !
Thanks for any input

Live in a council house. Don't work. Have loads of kids and break the law at will. They won't nick yer and if they do don't pay them. There is a whole industry out there and they are still thriving despite the recession. I can cite numerous cases before I get berated by the Mods again.

I think there was someone on here in a similar position and that is what happened - they paid for the second course and then got the points.

Obviously the input on the first speed awareness course didn't sink in.
I was about to say something about this post when bell boy said it more concisely and politely below. Please refrain from this kind of unnecessary comment in future. smokie, moderator

>>>>>>>> unfair and uncalled for
i do my best to keep to all speed limits but still dread the letters,
to OP I would just keep my head down and gob shut to be honest and see what happens

My wife has been flashed twice, done two speed awareness courses, both local to us, both incidents were for constabularies outside local police force area.
Both courses complete pony......

My wife went on one of these speed awareness courses after being caught doing just over the limit - she does obey limits, it was an oversight. Anyway, she found the course good and is now considering joining the local speedwatch.

the local speedwatch.
I have a charming vision of Ms SS hanging out near the local racetrack from estate to dodgy pub, cheering on the chavs in their stolen Corsas as they squeal their tyres and drive down the pavements and grass verges...
Anyway, I hope that's what 'the local speedwatch' means.

Well I just typed "Speedwatch" into Google and discovered that it's a special watch used for timing and logging speedboat races. So it sounds rather fun!

It looks as though at present I have 1 vote for ignoring the fact that I have taken a previous speed course and 1 vote for playing it straight, as in the end the powers that be will catch up with their admin paperwork and land me with the fine and points anyway. By which time I may have already have paid for the course.
Is there anyone out there who knows the actual way the system works for sure ?
Thanks
PS - if the reason that my previous course has not been recorded is due to slow paperwork. it is in sharp contrast to the 'efficiency' with which the council got the paperwork to me beforehand and took my payment !

Keep your head down and don't ask questions.
Keep breaks to a minimum.
This helps to get the course over a lot quicker.
Certainly don't be seen to be or come across as a cocky know it all or worse still become aggressive.
Have heard of people ending up getting arrested at these courses.

Interesting you shouid say that Nsar, I know a number of people that have been on the courses (I've so far been lucky) and all have found them useful, to universal surprise.
