04 1.9 fuel leak - dave mac
I have had 1.9tdi diesel from new, just filled the tank with disel which "leaked" over the garage forecourt. This problem only occurs when the tank is filled up and not when it is partially filled. I have had the seal on the fuel pump replaced but it hasn't resolved the problem.

Sounds like you are overfilling it and the diesel is leaking out. You're not trying to squeeze the maximum in after the pump cuts out are you? Could it be a fuel pump (at the garage) problem and it's not cutting out when full?

This just sounds as though the filler pipe on the car is just overflowing via the tiny little drain tube when overfilled. I have had this sort of car and would check this firts.

I assume you had the seal changes as you thought that is where the leak was from. There is also a breather pipe from the top of tank to the right of the pump seal that goes up to the filler and a gravity valve, and an external overfill vent which drains straigt to the floor.
