I have had my 2000 primera vandalised in the form of someone jumping on the roof and covering the doors/bonnet with paint stripper.
My worry is now that the car will be wrote off as it is probably only worth around £1000 but I really like this car it has been so reliable and has never really given me any trouble.
What are the chances of my insurance company repairing the damage and me being able to keep the car and if it is wrote off does that mean it has to be scrapped????
Any advice on this would be great!!!

No it does not have to be scrapped.

Yes it will be written off if you make a claim on this year
Depending on the wording of your insurance policy you have 2 options
If the policy directly stipulates that any claim paid the property becomes the insurance property then you will find they have a closed agreement to take the salvage away and give it to a salvage auction or a determined breaker
If you insurer has an open policy then once they have agreed the payout figure you should be able to buy back the salvage for 10% of this figure and then have it repaired yourself.
The car will be cat c and need a vic check though
before you do anything see a bodyshop about the roof as roofs are a big no no in the bodyshop world, the other panels are easy to fix in comparison
PS paint shop time and materials are very expensive now so you may wish to let the car go in the bigger picture
sorry to hear your easter has been ruined my mindless vandalism

You have my sympathy, John. My son's pride and joy is his 2000W bright red Primera in super condition for which he paid 2.4k a couple of years ago. Last month some twerp ran a key down the side of it.
