My daughter's getting rid of her thirteen year old Micra. It's got an NI registration TAZ nnnn. I was wondering if it might be worthwhile trying to sell it seperately. The car's taxed and tested so there should be no issues there.
I've no experience in this area and haven't a clue if it's got any value and if it has would it be more trouble and costly re-registering the car than the return on the registration?

Advertise the car and plate on Ebay in the plates section - sounds perfect for an Essex girl whose parents christened her Natasha.....
|
You might get a bite from a car racing fan, although the link is tenuous and relates to a long dead driver.

Some female called Tamzin will pay you a shedload of money for that. To be realistic it isn't worth anything, unless someone happens to want it, for some obscure reason or connection.

I've just looked on a cherished plate site. TAZ prefixes are up for £2k and more,
Good luck!

TAZ 7771 is on Ebay for £375 or best offer.
|
Reg Transfers (Google for it) have TAZ + 3 numbers at £1100 minumum and TAZ 3 is £7000+. Your plate might be an earner - good luck!

Bear in mind that the plate sellers take a huge percentage of the asking price, and expect you to keep the car/plate until sold. Far better to sell the whole combination on Ebay in an auction, I'd suggest.

When I sold my plate there were too options.
We will sell it for a comission or as I did, I sold it to them.

If it was TAZ666 you could name your price (tazmanian devil)
Shame about the devils they are dying in large numbers. An attractive cute beast till you get close and you find out it smells, shrieks and would bite your finger off including the bone given the slightest chance. I like them a lot.

Why don't you get one AE and walk about with it on an elegant iron chain?
Make all these chaps and doxies with pit bulls look like wimps. Start a new fashion.
|
Put the plate on retention (£125) then you can sell it at your leisure, and charge for the retention certificate.

My daughter had CCZ 9666 on the Fiesta that she sold. She rather liked the diabolical connotations of 9666 but decided not to keep the reg. We felt that it has limited value to sell on as a cherished reg.
|
Wow!
Daughter's suitably impressed the car's worth a bit more. It'll go towards a pram (the reason she's selling it).
Many thanks for all your input.

personally i think its worth nowt but good luck

My future middle DIL spent £400 on a '96 Clio a few years ago with the reg. MAZ****. It is probably worth more than the car now. In addition, youngest DIL and Mum (who know absolutely nothing about anything mechanised) between them bought a '97 KA for £700 a year ago and have been offered more than that for the reg number...I have had to eat humble pie because the car is a total wreck and was bought unbeknown to me after I had spent weeks searching for a good first car, and a KA was not even on my short list. The reason they bought the Ka was because it was black, and youngest DIL thought that a pink interior would contrast nicely. I never knew that you could purchase so many accessories in pink, and it is powered by pink lettered 'fairy dust', so the latest fuel duty increase must not apply to this contraption.

There is a complelty pink (inc wheel trims and bumpers) KA for sale in Sandy Beds.

Seen two cars today with TAZ nnnn registrations. First, at lunchtime, was an Aston Martin in Fetter Lane EC4 and t'other a Mk5 Escort by the Saint's ground in Northampton about twenty minutes ago.
