How much should for I pay for this 08 model ? - ajn
I thinking of buying this car over the weekend in Oxfordshire

Toyota Avensis 2.2TD TR Estate 5dr
Registered: Jun 2008 Mileage: 13,900
Fuel: Diesel

It is listed at £13 995 but what is the lowest realistic offer I should go for? Payment in cash probably trading in my old 2001 mondeo.

I don't buy cars very often so any help appreciated.

I don't buy cars very often either, but, looking at a well known used car sales website, it seems to be a fair price. One very optimistic dealer puts 17k on an 08 plate 2.2 TR Est. Another, £13,995 (which could be yours). I can't offer further advice though.

Two weeks ago one of the online brokers was selling the NEW model of that car for £14,500.00 but the new 1.8 valvematic engine.

Just checked that broker now and the Tourer is back up to about 18 to 20K dependent upon model.

Perhaps it is worth keeping an eye on the brokers or look on the used section of the Toyota website.

This will be the old Avensis, not the brand new model I assume. As such, I would be willing to go in and offer £12K cash. Sell the Mondeo privately.

Cash? I thought I was old fashioned but even I stopped using actual cash in the 1970s.

I picked up a 1.8 petrol T3x ex-demonstrator on an 07 plate from a main dealer with only 5k on the clock last November for just £8,650 (c£17k new price). Lovely motor but before you buy check that you can live with the spongy brakes which seem to be a characteristic of the Avensis.
