02 1.4 Front wipers self park ½ way across screen - Norman77
Its my sisters car.
The wipers have decided to self park half way across the windscreen

They sweep up then down then up to halfway. Its as though the relay for the motor is late in turning off.

I have put in a new identical motor from a salvaged 2008 Seat Ibiza - no luck!!
Is there a seperate relay somewhere?

I can hear a click from under the dash, and apon digging can only see a large ecu thingy which must house the relay.

Can any of you VAG experts help me out.

Regards, Norman.

***Problem Solved***

There is a single 13mm a/f nut holding the linkage drive arm
to the motor. Depending where this arm is positioned will determine where the wipers start and finish. By a bit of trial and error the wipers now start and finish at the park position.

There was also a water leak into the rear footwell on the nearside. The connection for the rear wash wipe had come apart under the light grey wheel arch trim next to the rear nearside seatbelt. Water was running down the arch (inside the car) and leaving a pool of water in the rear footwell. Judging by the stagnant mess it had been like that for several years. Hope this helps other owners.

Uncanny. I have just replied to speedyp (thread above) and thought I would look at your thread; identical water leak but on an Octavia.
