99 1.6 alarm going off - Blanche
My Rover is giving me a lot of trouble. It has just done 120,000 and has been quite reliable to date. Apart from the head gasket going a couple of years ago.
When my car has been parked and locked for a few hours the alarm goes off for thirty seconds. If I just turn the alarm off by the time I come to drive it again the battery is flat.
I replaced the battery yesterday and this morning the alarm started going off again.

Any advice or suggestions will be gratefully received.

First of all, check to make sure all the windows are closed. Any air getting in can upset the volumetric sensor.
Assuming you are using the remote blip to lock the car, try locking the car with the the key in the door. The only downside of this is it overrides the volumetric sensor. If this cures the problem, change the internal sensor which from memory is at the top of the B post above the driver's seat belt pivot.

Thanks ex-Triumph Man,
I'll use the key for a while and see if it stops the alarm going off.
I'm getting paranoid about upsetting the neighbours- last night I left the car unlocked.

Yes might just be worth a try. At least it will prove or disprove my theory and the car will be locked!
A report on your findings would be appreciated, if you can find the time.
