1.6 zetec escort very poor running reving up surging dieing out and the ocasional backfire
crank shaft sensor changed usual service done plugs etc coil pack changed today but no change. any help would be greatly appreciated

sorry no help..
but experiencing the same on the wifes escort..
starts fine, no backfire, yet!, but idles and surges if left on the drive for 10 minutes.

i think the general rule of thumb on this site is to clean out the EGRvalve and see how things go

Try changing the fuel filter.It worked for me.
