Vectra 1.9cdti SRI auto - Phil F.
Hi,been looking for a medium or largish automatic, and its probably come down to either
an Avensis or Vectra,2005 or above.
I have also test driven a Citroen C4 auto which i liked, and there is some very cheap ones around!...but their reputation is not very good, particularly autos.
Anybody have one of these cars and could offer some ownership experience please??
I have seen the above Vectra,2007,16,000 miles for £7,800.
Cheers....Phil.

Hi, I've got a 2007 Vectra 1.9CDTi as a company car, though it has the 6 speed manual gearbox. It has the 150 hp engine.

I got it when it had 18,000 miles on the clock, since then in 5 months I've put a further 10,000 miles on the clock.

I find it a comfortable car to drive, with good seat adjustment. Plenty of room for front and rear passengers, and good size boot.

Engine is lively, excellent on motorways and A and B roads. Obviously around town not quite as easy to park as a supermini, but still not bad. Economy (in the manual) is getting on for 50mpg. One of the quietest cars I've driven. The Vauxhall sat nav is good, except that you can't enter postcodes.

Only gripes are a bland interior (although I've got the cheap version), the indicators (which you eventually get used to), and the gearchange quality (which is not relevant to you).

Overall, I've had a relaxed 10,000 miles in it. Only thing to have gone wrong is the non-Vauxhall hands free kit.

Would that be the CD70? If so, then you can enter postcodes, but only a partial one, and not the full one. ie, only the first 4 or 5 characters of the postcode.

Yes it is the CD70.

Yes - you're right. You can enter the first 4 or 5 characters of the postcode as the 'city'. This narrows the search down to a few roads.

Did 600 miles a couple of weekends ago in a rental - exactly that spec.
Interior is bland. But the engine has decent shove, and despite brisk driving on my part it still averaged 46mpg. I thought that was rather good for a large auto.

I still can't see the point of those stupid indicators - though you do learn to live with them.....

Thanks for your replies,i have done a lot of miles in manual Vectra's in company cars and always thought how refined the ride was.I have heard some criticisms of the diesel plus this six speed autobox though?
Does anybody have an Avensis 1.8 Auto here, which is my alternative choice.I have noticed the seats are a lot softer than the Vectra!!
Is the Avensis as bulletproof as its reputation?
Is it a bit sluggish with 1.8 engine?
Thanks....Phil.
