One of the statements above must be wrong, otherwise it would start, presuming you're injecting enough petrol.

You absolutely sure about the plug lead order?

Im sure i marked up the HT leads wile i was removing them,, the only thing i can think of is the ignition timing but i cant see why that would be wrong,, another thing is wile the engine turns over it pauses, like its taking a break then trys again,

any ideas?

thanks

Check one of the pulleys (maybe the alternator) which is held on by 3 bolts (I think) is not 1/3rd or 2/3rd of a turn out. There is a tiny protrusion on this which is supposed to locate in a hole. The pulley position is detected by a position sensor, if it has been put on wrong, the protrusion may be squashed :o( . If it is wrong, the sparks will be at the wrong time. Sorry about the sketchiness, it was 8 years ago!

crank pulley should have the position sensor mounted near it as previous post says if its not in the correct position "critical-ish" then it won't fire when its supposed to causeing it to lock up/fire at the wrong time this is assuming that you removed the bottom pully when you put a new belt on/ retensioned the cambelt

the crank pulley is in the correct position, (sat on the tiny pin),, i also checked the sensor and it seems ok (not damaged) and the gap is within spec,, it dus seem like my timing is wrong but i have double checked the timing marks and they are correct :(
