04 320d Car start Battery removal/charging/jumping - bds
Hi, my 04 BMW 320d Estate has not been moved for a couple of months and now when i turn the ignition it just clicks. I have been let down by my warranty providers as I didn't address it within 14days reporting it.

Thinking it is the battery, if so does someone know where the battery is to remove it to charge it? or where it is so that I can try to jump start it with leads?

If anyone thinks it might be something else then please suggest

Many thanks and sorry for my ignorance!

Regards

It's a BMW so the battery is in the boot - to aid weight distribution. Does sound like it could be the battery.

Many thanks, do you know where in the boot I would find it?

Sorry I don't but did know BMW put them there for car balance. I assume it's the same on the compact as the engine bay would be the same as the saloon/estate.

A quick google found: "The battery is located in the right side of the trunk under a black plastic tray."

Can we start with some proper car details. If it's a '04 then it's not an E36 - and the battery location will depend on whether it's petrol or diesel and the engine size/number of cylinders.

Yes, sorry, noticed that after I had posted and couldn't change it

Car is an 2004 320D Estate

Thanks

{Thread title edited at top level to reflect correct model being an E46 320d}

On an E46 diesel; the battery lives under a cover on the O/S of the boot floor.

However; to charge it, use the access point under the plastic cover with a red + sign under the bonnet. Attach the negative of the charger to any bare metal surface.
