03 2.0 - Disabling the alarm. - Woody37
Our CRV has been great for five years, but is starting to have some niggly problems.

Unfortunately our toddler posted about 10 coins into the CD slot and rendered it useless. We had a new radio (non factory) fitted but since then the Alarm has been playing up at regular intervals includng today where we simply cannot lock/alarm the car.

Is there a way to disable the alarm? I have looked at the fuse box diagrams, but there isn't one marked Alarm that I can see.

Help much appreciated.

slight tweak to your subject line - I thought it was a doggy problem

An attempt at disabling the alarm *may* well cause insurance complications. I suspect that the factory fit stereo was wired into the alarm somehow. Is the replacement stereo an aftermarket one, or the same as the one it replaced? If aftermarket there might be a wire needing to be connected up somewhere (to earth?) to fool the alarm into thinking the original stereo is still fitted.

Thanks DD

It is an after-market radio and I strongly suspect it is the problem.

I guess a trip to an independent car electrics specialist is the answer.
