Hi.
Just bought a secondhand Seat Ibiza Sport. Am looking at replacing all 4 tyres as there nearly come to there life span. I dont drive the car hard, Sometimes at a quickish pace but very rare. Am looking for the follow.
Quite running
Moderate grip (dry/wet)
Best place for tyres, Online or highstreet.

Don't want to be a pedant but it's neither "there" nor "their" but they're in the case of the first there.
www.mytyres.co.uk are very good and give ratings for the characteristics of most tyres, including grip and noise.

Quiet running - depends a lot on the road surface
Grip - anything which isn't £5 a corner - choose something you have heard of
On line v high street - my local "railway arch" fitter offers better prices than on line.
Khumo, Vredestein, Toyo are recognised non-premium tyres.

We had an Altea with really noisy tyres from new, was so much better when they wore out! - might be worth going onto www.seatcupra.net and ask what people are experiencing on their tyres.

As regards which tyre,I would recommend the Goodyear Excellence and Dunlop Fastresponce.

I've just got some quotes for my son's Hairdresser SLK. Conti sport contact3, 245/40/R17 MO.
Largish national chain- £170 all in with a 15% discount.
Several Internet firms- £139-£145 all in.
Independent firm in Derby-£129.09 all in.
So my advice is to get some quotes from local independents.
As for quiet running and good grip, I would recommend Continental tyres. I have got them on my Passat and Golf, they are quiet and seem good grippers.
A friend, with a Avensis, had some Russian and Chinese tyres on when he bought the car. They were very noisy, he replaced them with Continentals and the car is better now.

I'll second local independents. My local one came in £20 a corner less than the best quote elsewhere, including all the online ones.

I don't know whether I can say which firm gave the best quote. So I will say that it is like a garden of **** in the bible.
Or a rather poor Prime Minister who messed up over Suez.
Or a lap dancing club in Derby. (I have never been of course)

Great tyres quiet runnng. No handling problems.
Bought them from a local tyre shop £104.00 a pair.
Now fitted all round

No, for some reason he bought a Merc SLK. The only other SLKs I see are driven by girls.
When I get in it does my back in, my rear is very close to the road.
Just to be clear, I'm not sexist or homophobic.
He has got a girlfriend, whom he even allows to drive it!

I'll second and recommend the Goodyear Excellence, designed to be quiet, and wet grip and wear is good and the price is nice. I also second the local independents. I usually take online print-outs from mytyres and keep them in my pocket as they always beat the tyres-only prices on that site for supplied fitted and balanced without me asking.

My 06 Toledo tyres are so noisy the car is going in a couple of weeks. Couple that to the 2.0 tdi engine and DGS gearbox the car is a disaster!
Back to an old Mercedes W202..... it may rust but atleast I can hear the stereo!
