Local MP banned for 6 months under totting up procedure - 6 months walking for him.
Sitting on 9 points already, is this a complete disregard for safety of others and a bad example to teenagers?
How would you vote?

I can't see him walking anywhere, he'll be claiming travel expenses from the taxpayer as MPs do anyway. Instead of driving to keep his costs down he'll probably get a taxi everywhere now or employ a chauffeur.

Cameras are everywhere now, just waiting to pick ordinary people off and turn them in to criminals. I don't judge anyone based on whether they have speeding convictions or not. I tend to view them as unlucky. Speeding doesn't mean the driving was unsafe.

Do you really think teenagers look up to MPs as role models! They see them as boring people in suits and couldn't care less what they get up to...
How would you vote?
Speeding covictions wouldn't have any bearing on my vote.

>>How would you vote? >>
My vote would not be changed by my MP receiving a 6 month speeding ban, in fact I might offer him a lift if I agreed with his policies, which I do BTW.

I'd agree with all that, except for one thing possibly. Sitting on 9 points and knowing that 12 is a ban, then regardless of any personal opinions on speeding and cameras, wouldn't you take a lot of care not to get caught again? Of course, he may have been doing that and still been unlucky.
Oh, and points for speeding would be unlikely to affect my vote. The reports I found don't say what the previous points were for. If they were something more serious that might affect my vote.

He took the risk - he knew he had nine and three more points would see him banned.
We have all seen cars (well I have anyway) with A4 notices in them doing no more than apologising for the drivers going so slowly due to them having an already loaded licence!
What police force nicked him by the way?

I think a lot more drivers would be banned if all driving at 81mph on a motorway were prosecuted, as in this case. There was no mention of roadworks or particular restrictions in place.
Was it a camera, Falkirkbairn?
On expenses, I believe this chap is fairly high on the list already.

There are no fixed cameras in Central Police Area - a number of vans - they sit on flyovers on motorway - I would suggest this is the most likely as traffic police are rarer then hen's teeth (in this area anyway)
PS Central Police area is in centre of Central Scotland - fixed cameras are used in Fife, Lothians and Strathclyde Police areas of Scotland - just in case you are a visitor.

>>fixed cameras are used in Fife>>
No fixed cameras in Fife, just lots of very mobile camera vans!

It all depends on the nature of the offences. Doing 45 in a residential area, fine, should be done. Doing 30 in a 20 zone, when no-one is about, and conditions are good, then it is not deserved. Or doing 80 on a motorway, but driving safely, again, not fair.
Had he been a chief police constable, or a government minister such as Harriet Harperson, he might have got off.
