Anyone out there own or drive the new 2008/9 Forester? Especially interested in the new diesel version - are there any on the road yet? Wondering if the new diesel is strong enough to lug the bigger Forester around capably?

Got my eye on one of these for the New Year, subject to lead-times, waiting lists, etc...

Yes the UK dealers have them now, but are they selling any well read on.
Depends on your use - if for towing try the Honda CRV ( just like a large van) or the Freelander 2 Diesel ( great car but £10k overpriced + high running costs and £300 tax next year )
Main reason to buy no sales at present maybe worth a test drive later in the year - the car is a clone of the new Toyota sorry Impreza same interior, I personally preffered the old version Forester esp the STi apart from the running costs.
Good plan to delay as total Subaru Sales in August were just 87 new cars so are they/will they be keen to sell anything you bet.

I'd have thought no problem, it is plenty quick enough in my Legacy and improving as the miles pile on. The Forester is shorter, half a wing mirror wider and doesn't weigh any more although I suppose top speed may be down a smidgeon with aerodynamics affecting it.
