X20XEV two thin tubes left side camshaft cover - peter973
X20XEV Engine-2 thin tubes left side camshaft cover.

There are 2 thin tubes running along left side of camshaft cover (adjacent to cam belt cover).

One tube runs along left side of camshaft cover, all way round over top of engine.

Other tube goes to middle of camshaft cover, then goes under the spark plug cover.

What are these tubes ??

I am particularly interested in the first one that goes all way round over top of engine, as the outer insulation has broken off in one place.

On a X20XEV Vectra or Omega I think you're describing the cables for the cam and crank sensors, the former dissappearing into the cam belt end of the cam cover. Presumably the Cavalier is much the same.

Are you saying the one that goes all way round is the crank sensor cable ??

As said; those are the sheathings protecting the cables going to the crank sensor and the cam sensor.

If they're cracking-up; a few turns of good quality insulation tape [or convoluted split over-sheath, if you can source it from somewhere like LSUK] will prevent any further deterioration.
