1994 2.0 Central Locking Immobiliser Problem - SolarEclipse
Hi Friends

Am having problems with my central locking & immobiliser system.
I lost the remote & have been using the key to manually unlock & lock the car.
For a while it worked but then the hatch door wouldn't lock.

As far as the immobiliser is concerned I took the battery for a charge & on replacing
have been unable to get the alarm to switch off! What am I doing wrong?

My guess is a new remote would help with the central locking but have no clue to the second issue!

Any advice gratefully received.

I doubt the lack of hatch locking has anything to do with the lack of remote - some fault with the wiring or solenoid probably. The alarm problem on the other hand defintely does! You can rectify it though - there should be an alarm cancel switch on the dash somewhere - probably like a speaker crossed out. Lock the car then unlock, get in, press and hold the cancel button, and then turn the ignition on (all within 10s or so) - this should shut the alarm up.

....or if its a Mk1 there may be a key switch under the bonnet.
