Having just read the " Car siezed despite having insurance " thread, decided to try my own entry.
This came up with a message " Invalid Use Code 16540201 "
Can anyone say what this means please?
Thank you.

I think that is a software problem nothing to do with the car try it on another computer.

Thank you Andy.
Have now tried on second computer, still the Invalid use code as above.
However, yesterday the entry came up in a bright red background, giving no indication if the vehicle is on the register or not and quoting the Invalid use code above.
Today, on both computers, the entry comes up in green, stating " YES " the vehical is on the register but still showing the Invalid use code.
Can anyone offer any definative reason for this please?
Have telephoned my insurance people, who have checked the details and insist that there is nothing wrong with the insurance policy.
Thank you.

Further to the above, I have just entered the details of a car I sold 3 years ago. The buyer took less than two years to reduce the vehicle to a wreck and it now stands in a field covered in a green slime.
The entry comes up in the bright red background but clearely states " NO " it is not on the database and there is no Invalidity code or any other type of code showing.
Can no one tell me what this " Invalid use code 16540201 " means?

This is a shot in the dark, but here goes.
I believe the data that used to be [may still be] sent to the MIB had various fields that were filled in to a format specified by the MIB.
For example, some of these data fields include:
Mandatory fields are marked with an asterisk (*).
Record Type*
Update Type*
Insurer ID*
Insurer Branch ID
etc.etc.etc.
Permitted Drivers
Class of Use
Additional Drivers
Indicator Number of Named Drivers
Named Driver
Name (1)
etc.etc.etc.
Note my emphasis using bold type. "Class of Use".
My guess is that in submitting these details, your insurance company may have input incorrect "class of use", and thereby triggered the "invalid use code" message.
Just a calculated guess, that is all.

Thank you jbif.
Will let you know if I find out.

Genetic material invalid. Your guys are swimming in circles.

Update.
Have just had a relpy by Email from MIIC customer services at Milton Keynes.
They state that this Invalid Use code appeared, because the insurance company failed to enter or made a mistake when trying to enter, the make and model of the vehicle.
As the insurance policy in question has only 5 weeks left to run, I do not propose to bother complaining about this but I do wonder, what a traffic officer with a handheld, outside a Kebab shop at 11oclock at night might have made of it.
Regards.
